Two real estate professionals reviewing a website together

1) The path to the goal - How do visitors reach your website?

People can find a website in various ways. To engage your target audience effectively, you need to understand which routes bring visitors to your site:

a) Recommendations:

A personal recommendation is often why prospects visit your website. A satisfied client or business partner has recommended you, and potential clients now want to learn more about your services.

b) Personal contact:

You have made personal contact through networking or other events and handed over your business card. This encourages those contacts to visit your website.

c) Advertising presence:

People have discovered your website through paid advertising, whether on social media or other platforms.

d) Generic search:

These are non-specific searches, such as “real estate agents Musterstadt”. Clients are specifically looking for a service provider in your industry.

Important factors I analyze include:

✓ Basic SEO: Is your website optimized for search engines so it ranks well in search results?

✓ Local SEO: Local search engine optimization is crucial to making you easier to find in your region.

✓ Google Business optimization: A well-optimized Google Business page increases visibility in local search results.

2) First impressions count - How do visitors reach your website?

Now that visitors have landed on your website, it is important that they can find their way around and are convinced by your offering. People arrive on your site with different expectations and needs:

a) General expectation:

They simply want to find out who you are and what services you offer.

b) Specific expectation:

Prospects have heard about your engaging guides and want to discover more.

c) Specific goal:

A potential client is interested in your current property listings.

The following aspects are particularly important here:

✓ (Personal) branding: Your website should show your personality or your brand's personality to build trust. Only then will visitors feel they are in the “right place”.

✓ Imagery: Meaningful images and photos create a positive perception of your services. People expect photos of you, your team and your local target area.

✓ Gummy bear principle: Important elements and information you want to highlight should appear prominently and repeatedly to direct visitors' attention.

✓ Less is more: An overloaded website can put visitors off. Choose a clean, uncluttered design with few elements.

For your own website check, ask yourself the following questions:

  • How do visitors find your website? Examine which search terms, channels and sources bring visitors to your site.
  • How easily can visitors navigate your website? Test its usability, for example by asking a few people from your target audience to explore the site and provide feedback.
  • Do you use the gummy bear principle on your website? Identify important content and information and check whether it is prominent and well placed.

A well-optimized website that appeals to and convinces your target audience is key to your success as a real estate agent. Use these tips to strengthen your online presence and attract more potential clients. Make your website check a regular part of your marketing strategy to achieve optimal results consistently.
